Why Counselling?
As individuals most of us get stuck or overwhelmed sometimes whether we are part of a couple or not. This does not usually mean that we are mad or have a mental illness. At these times it can become hard to talk with people close to us because they may either be part of the problem or unavailable. This is a good time to see an experienced counsellor.
We sometimes feel stressed, full of emotional pain and bad about ourselves - we tend towards self blame: to say 'it's my fault, I'm stupid, I cannot control my feelings or the way I think'. This is whether we are in a love relationship or not. We may feel depressed, full of anger, anxious, we may panic or suffer from anxiety attacks, or we may just feel unmotivated and low a lot of the time. Certainly we will lose enthusiasm and spontaneity - the ability to feel and be our true selves. At these times counselling or relationship advice can help us to understand these things better and then to stop blaming ourselves and re-build our self confidence.
If you look in the couples counselling page you will see how I work with people in relationship counselling and marriage counselling in Exeter.
