About Me
Nick Willatt Counselling in Exeter Central

About Me
I qualified as a drama teacher and then had an eight year career in the commercial world. I qualified in counselling in 1979/80. I then worked in special schools for children with emotional and behavioural difficulties for many years becoming a more experienced counsellor. I found this work challenging and interesting. I was privileged to work in the best of mutually supportive teams which enabled these years to be a wonderfully formative experience. I qualified for a sabbatical in 1996 and did an MA in Teamwork with these disturbed children. When I qualified in this I became a headteacher.
I have been married and divorced and am now very happily married for the second time. I have three children. My personal interests are in nature and the arts. I read - particularly about philosophy and counselling and I qualified in various further courses(See below). I see a lot of films, go to the theatre and comedy shows. In recent years have enjoyed travelling in various parts of the world.
Since I qualified and started working I have enjoyed my work in counselling very much. People frequently share extremely painful things and I find the personal development and changes they often achieve are rewarding for me too. I particularly welcome the challenges of honesty and creativity demanded in counselling. I continue to study the subject enthusiastically and I qualified in many related subjects. As a more experienced counsellor I run occasional counselling workshops and offer counselling supervision. In recent years I have specialised more as a couples counsellor, although a lot of my work is still with individuals.
